Thank you to all the wonderfully creative kids around Australia who entered our competition to promote International Composting Awareness Week in May. The competition was incredibly successful and resulted in over 3000 entries from over 150 primary schools across Australia. Schools participated from as far north as Malak and Driver in the Northern Territory and from as far south as Bridge Water and Nicholls Rivulut in Tasmania; from as far west as Jurien Bay in Western Australia and from as far east as Ulladulla in NSW.
Entries in our Name a Worm competition were very creative. The winning names were Aussie, Melony and Tiger. While two people suggested we call our apple crunching worm Aussie, we received 10 suggestions of Melony for our watermelon eating worm and 11 nominations for Tiger, our celery crunching worm.
Each of these winners will receive a fabulous kit for their school, comprising of 5 x 400L Compost Bins, 3 x Aerators,5 x Can-O-Worms, 5 x 1000 Composting Worms, a box of Worm Blankets, a bottle of Worm Farm and Compost Conditioner.
